Anne-Marie Gélinas has over 15 years of experience in Montreal’s film, television and video industry. From 1993 to 2008, she was CEO of Productions Jeux d’Ombres, a production company that she co-founded in 1990, after obtaining her B.A. in Communication Studies from Concordia University’s renowned program. She has recently finished an Advanced Graduate Diploma in Management of Cultural Organizations from HEC Montréal. She is also participating in the negotiation of a number of collective agreements for the Association des producteurs de film et de télévision du Québec (APFTQ) and she holds a seat on the Board of Directors of Women in Film and Television – Montreal (WIFTM). Anne-Marie has been a member of Cinéma Parallèle since 1996 and in 1997 and 2007, she headed the organization of the events surrounding the institution’s 30th and 40th anniversaries. She is now a producer with new Montreal-based production company EMA FILMS, founded in 2008.
At Jeux d’Ombres she produced a variety of director-driven independent feature films, many of which were shown around the world, such as Zigrail by André Turpin (1995); On the Verge of a Fever written by Dany Laferrière and directed by John L’Écuyer(2004); These Girls by John Hazlett (2005) and Where are you going Moshe? by Hassan Benjelloun (2007); documentaries such as Change from Within by Peter Farbridge (2003) and Le Doigt dans l’œil by Julien Fréchette(2007); as well the television travel journal, Hakuna Matata (2007).
With EMA FILMS, Anne-Marie is now embarking on a new phase of her career with projects that scan the globe and focus on compelling and entertaining stories aimed at an international audience. She is currently developing a number of projects, most of which as Canadian and/or international co‑productions.
