BEANS win Best Motion Picture and the John Dunning Best First Feature Film Awards at the Canadian Screen Awards
During the fourth and final night of the Canadian Screen Awards ceremonies, held virtually for the second year in a row, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television honored the film Beans in its film arts component. And twice rather than once!
In addition to the Canadian Screen Award for Best Motion Picture, Tracey Deer’s historical drama, launched at the Toronto Film Festival last fall, then presented at the Berlinale and Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma, also won the John-Dunning Award, awarded to the best first feature film. Beans was thus rewarded in two of the five categories where the film was nominated (Achievement in Cinematography, in Sound Mixing and in Casting).
Beans will be released in theaters
- on July 2, 2021, in Quebec and
- on July 30th, in the rest of Canada.
